Scouts are do-ers and give-it-a-go-ers. Yes, we go camping, hiking, swimming, abseiling, cycling and canoeing. But we also get to hang out with our friends every week – having fun, playing games, working in a team and taking on new challenges.
At the 1st Midlothian Gorebridge Scout Group, we prepare young people with skills for life. You can learn survival skills, first aid, cooking and even expedition skills that can lead on to Duke of Edinburgh Awards. It’s a great way to have fun, make friends, get outdoors, express your creativity and experience the wider world. There’s something for every young person, whatever their physical ability.
We believe in bringing people together. We celebrate diversity and stand against intolerance, always. We’re part of a worldwide movement, creating stronger communities and inspiring positive futures.
The 1st Midlothian Gorebridge Scout Group was formed on the 11th March 1911 and we celebrated our 100th birthday in 2011.
Each of our sections are very active and the leaders are all enthusiastic at teaching the youngsters the ways of Scouting towards each of the different age groups.
The Scouts and Explorers also take part in residential activities like camping at Borthwick Campsite, going to Glencoe and Aviemore for Hill Walking weekends. Each Christmas we also have a whole group outing to the Pantomime which is always great fun for the young people.
We accept both boys and girls in all of our sections.
All the sections of our Scout Group meet in the Gorebridge Scout Hall, 73C Hunterfield Road, Gorebridge. You can get directions via Google Maps.

Made for Adventure
Adventure is at the heart of everything we do. It is the single most important thing that sets Scouts apart. Through the everyday adventure of Scouting, young people and adult volunteers regularly experience new challenges that enrich their lives.
Over 100 Young People…
Enjoy exciting, challenging, and stimulating activities each week. This has a positive impact on their lives. Every young person in Scouting enjoys a balanced range of activities, events and experiences, based around subject areas we call Programme Zones. These cover a huge range of activities, from outdoor and physical pursuits to community involvement, creative expression and learning about the wider world.
